I'm a semi pro photographer and an iPhone user, but I don't use it for photography. I chose the Pixel 7 almost every time - I feel it simply had the most accurate colour, and the most well balanced exposure.

If you get ur hands on a Samsung make sure to use expert raw to TRUELY test the ability of the Samsung as it keeps the file in its raw format

The Pixel 7 was quite a surprise. I would have expected the iPhone 14 to be better. Before I retired a few years back, I owed a photography studio for 4 decades, and was a very early adopter of digital back in the mid 90s. After watching other iPhone 14 pro/max videos by Max and Vadim, I bought the iPhone 14 pro a month ago. Maybe I'll need to glue a Pixel 7 to the back of it. ;-D

@Boring🐐 These guys are unlucky not to have experienced Huawei and Xaomi camera systems that are really good. But one thing for sure is that Pixel can produce decent results in most challenging environments compared to other phones. White balancing on Pixel is near perfect always. What it lacks in is details in low light and longer time taking shots

Pixel 7 pro has too much oversharpening in all portrait photos Overall I would say S22 ultra is best considering zoom capabilities & stunning portrait photos & that 108mp comes in handy too in good lighting condition Portrait video mode is way better in S22 ultra than pixel Pixel doesn't even allow us to use max megapixel mode in it's camera Watching it on my S22 ultra❤

Yep, Iphone photos suck, all yellowish/greenish weird tint in it.... Then Samsung has the typical punchy, a bit saturated colours, that some people like a lot, depending on the situation, and Pixel is the one who does the best job at getting natural colors and natural looking pics.

Gotta admit, the Pixel 7's pictures are phenomenal. iPhone's pictures used to be the most realistic, but now Pixel undoubtedly reigns supreme.

True, as a die hard Apple fan I don't like the look of the new iPhone pictures. They are too overcooked, no shadows, too bright faces, too sharp and sometimes green color cast. Pixel was definitely the most natural and what I liked the best most of the time. If it only wasn't Android…😀

Google wasn't' kidding when they said they did lot of research on people's face and corrected their colors. I think their AI algorithm grows bigger and bigger with users input, and over the year we will be treated with most natural looking color corrected pictures out of pixel devices. I would have chosen s22 in almost 4 instances over iphone, both were too close. To me pixel, s22 and iphone. But if iPhone's pro raw pictures are used, pixel and iphone should have been so close leaving s22 far far behind... Overall, great job guys!

@Retrocomputing Well , Google has almost 92% of search market. That speaks for itself.I heard good things about Bing but trust me - outside USA its trash, I dumped it after less than one day. From my perspective as user its just huge gap. Yes, I know google collects tons of data this way but I'm fine with this if I get a lot better search results. Thats exactly why I dont use Duck2Go. Adjusting results to user is what makes Google so powerful.

These are my favorite since it eliminates bias. In a few shots I confused samsung and pixel shots, but overall theme is, iphone sucks at hdr, samsung sucks at low light despite they advertised as strong point, and pixel looks overall balanced. Pixel took best shots for me as well. Let's see what s23u will do in couple weeks

The 23u is AMAZING I went in my basement all the lights were off and yet the light from my printer apparently was enough for the sensor. Then again the 23u also has an astrophotography mode when using expert raw. Nobody compares the Samsung expert raw mode vs the iPhone it's a WHOLE different experience

Not sure why people think the galaxy s22 ultra sucks in low light, I can get some amazing, pro photos on low light almost every single time without any noise, blur or redaction. Not always, of course, but much better than most of these big youtubers like to showcase.

Nice comparison from a professional perspective. I own Pixel 7 Pro and is definitely a surprise in every situation. Just put out from the pocket, double click on the power button and in 1 second and a half you have an awesome pic in every scenario. I really enjoy this piece of tech!

I do own a Samsung S21 Ultra which i consider pretty similar to S22 ultra and one thing where it really shines is the ability to have full manual control on all the 3 lenses. Having a composite RAW file from Expert RAW! May be you should make a video of comparing the RAW images and comparing the full potential of all 3 images - might be of interest to a smaller audience though

Yeah, I felt like these guys were way too concerned with exposure and colors, those are so easy to fix in post. The samsung had the least fake clarity/sharpening and looked like an actual photo instead of some computerized image. I switched to iphone from the s11 back in the day but now might have to switch back if samsung ever figures out how to do good video.

I would appreciate it if my Pixel had better video. That being said I'm not making a movie and the quality is already fantastic. So that leaves the more important metric: photos, and the Pixel is kicking ass. In addition the Pixel is also providing all the other amazing phone features that apple can't match. Let's not forget the Assistant.

I have the regular pixel 7 and I'm always impressed every time I point the phone against the sun and take a pic (which most photographers try to avoid if you want to get details on the subject), it always comes out with so much dynamic range and details

I switched over to the iPhone 14 pro max this year from a Pixel 6 pro and the thing I miss the most about the Pixel is the photos. The photos I got out of the pixel were the best of any phone I’ve ever had.

Have an S22 Ultra and I think switching to 108MP reduced the right amount of processing. A quick example would be the fire shot at 19:30 since I have take several fire shots and they look more like the ones on left or sometimes on the right depending on the lighting while Max said he tried 4 times and it looked the same.

As a photographer, I think it's hard to judge coz even we prefer our shots a little warm / cool, bright sometimes and deep shadows other times. It's a matter of perspective and the theme of the photograph. I think it'll take seconds to edit any one of the images to look like the other 2. So basically these phones are doing a great job in different styles. All 3 are very comparable.

@Mo_oC The reason why you don't want things to be too warm is because real photographer edit photos. And the first step in any editing process is to get the photo to look like it did in real life (color correction) - then you go from there with your stylized edits, adding your presets, etc. A phone that keeps shooting photos that aren't color accurate is just creating more work for the photographer because it takes more edits to get the image corrected. If you were a photographer yourself you would understand.

I just got fed up with 1st photographer with him constantly saying it's too warm. In the end, it all comes down to preferences. i did love the fact that they addressed some issues like too less details and colors not appearing to be right.

@Sålz and then photographers stylistically edit in post, to kill saturation if they want the shot gloomy, or, reduce the contrast on a foggy morning image Don't expect accuracy from a tiny sensor. What I mean is that they've done great with what they have using AI smarts. And they all differ by a smidge

I got a pixel 7 pro recently and I can confirm. Main sensor is amazing, portraits are shitty. I think they can improve them via software. Videos are ok, not consistent like the iphone. But I use the main for 80+% of the time so I am pretty happy with it. I think most people use the main sensor for the majority of the time, so the pixel really got a banger. Especially with the non pro version, such good value. I like bigger screens so I went for the pro. Very interesting video, confirmed my choice. 10/10 :)

I think the time it takes to take night pics can be either reduced or increased in the night sight slider. It varies from 2secs to I think 10secs

Interesting thing for me as a 14 Pro owner is what is fixable with software upgrades. I do find iPhones night mode tricky, sometimes amazing, sometimes making it look like daytime and hard to correct. Wish someone would be able to test the fundamentals, like what the sensor and optics are capable of sine the rest is processing and adjustable.

One of the challenges watching these and similar videos is the way the photos are displayed on your device - the one you are using to watch the videos - is not the same as seeing them on a neutral screen. For me watching this on an iPadPro 11: iPhone 14 Pro - 8, Samsung S22 - 9, Pixel 7 Pro - 23.

great video, this should be watched by all phone makers. :) I was almost always able to identify who's who after the first 3-4 picture series. Apparently I also have a thing for the Pixel. Hmm, can't wait for the S23 Ultra test, I think they improved that quite a bit, but maybe wait for the first software updates, it takes them a round or two until they get it right.

I have both Pixel 7 pro and s22 ultra, P7P nails it pretty much every time, but s22U has much better selfies. I don't like selfies on P7P, they look unnatural and overprocessed.

Good review. It was nice have real photographers review the photos. They certainly have a better eye than I do. I prefer using a real camera over a phone camera, but phones are great for those times when I don’t have a real camera with me. I think the Pixel did the best overall in these. I have the Samsung S21 Ultra. I don’t like pictures of people from it because of how it doctors the facial features. I does take rather decent video however though it is not comparable to my Sony a6500.

I have seen so many comparison videos and all differ. Some have the s22 ultra wiping the floor with the competition. Others, like this video have the s22 ultra struggling. It's purely down to each individual and how our eyes view the shots/pictures taken. I have the s22 ultra and I can positively say it is a very good camera and video camera. I've taken various shots using all of the lenses and for the most part I'm impressed. With time, the various updates will improve the cameras on all the top end phones, one would assume.

@Nícolas Silva I have the s22 ultra with the Exynos chip. I'm in England where we are one of several countries to have that particular chip. Apparently samsung are not keen on it and they are sticking with the snapdragon chipset. Why we don't get that is beyond me.

I think the main reason is that the s22 has 2 different processor options and depending on the country you get one or another, that makes a big difference in camera, I was just thinking that anyone in the comments mentioned it. Would love to know what s22 they have and would love to get my hands on a pixel one day too.

I'm 2 weeks with my Google Pixel 7 Pro. I have to be honest I have a bit of buyers remorse wondering if I made a mistake. After viewing this video I realize I made the right choice, I always picked the Pixel 7 Pro photos and videos when it mattered but others phones when all the pictures just didn't look right. I am so happy to find this video.

I use the Pixel 7 pro and it is really good. I live about 40 miles from mt Rainier and i zoom in 30x and i can see every small detail of the mountain no matter the lighting with the exception of nighttime. I highly reccomend it.

I feel like the iphone still needs the software corrections for the new 48megapixel sensor , the same way the pixel needed them with the 6. But Overall in my own personal use i have noticed and overly warm tone in night mode photos with iphone. Im sure a lot of iphone issues can be corrected with software but its a matter of whether they actually do it, Or just decide to fix the software issues only on the 15’s cameras to make them seem better when in reality it could be fixed with the 14’s. Either way Apple needs to step it up and decrease the price. Or atleast keep the price but actually do some innovation

I consistently chose the 14 pro as the 2nd or 3rd best. After a while I started to reliably pick which photo was the 14 pro because it was the one with a weird green hue or the photo just didn’t look focused or something like that. As others and MK said, I hope this is just growing pains because of the new sensor and Apple can fix it with an update. Or I hope using a third party app like halide and shooting raw/proraw fixes it

The Pixel killed in from all of the images you’ve taken. I didn’t count exact numbers, but I voted for the Pixel the most followed by the iPhone. I thought Samsung would run away with it from the way people always talk about the megapixel counts & everything. I’m not a camera expert by any means, but if I were to upgrade to any of the three, it’d be the Pixel. However… As of watching this video, they just had the Samsung event, so it’ll be interesting looking at the new Galaxy S23 Ultra when you along with the other KZhomers I watch for phones give your reviews & opinions of the vs the iPhone & Pixel phones. Great video guys.

Being semi pro (side gig) photographer also I'm not at all surprised. The comments with all that is wrong with iPhone processing especially colour and white balance is my experience seeing most pics taken from misses 14pro. I honestly think it gets those things wrong more than my low mid spec oppo even (my base comparison gear is Nikon and FujiFillm). I guess just save the money (especially in the USA) and have better is the take away from this video

10 S22, 7 iPhone, 22 Pixel. Honestly most surprised I didn't end up with more iPhone, as I chose it 4 out of the first 5 and then it just fell off as pics became more difficult to capture (lighting, shadows, colors etc)

I graded all of them 1-3. The Pixel won for best overall score AND for the most shots I rated best of the 3. However, I had it poorly rated on portraits. The iPhone had the least number of worsts of the 3, with Pixel in 2nd. Samsung got my lowest score in overall, bests, and worsts - BUT, the 23 comes out next week with upgrades.

I guess my only disappointment with this is that it ignores the telephoto shots. It seemed that in order to try and keep some fairness, the focus was only on shots all of them could achieve. How about a 30x zoom shot to see how they compare. As a parent, I am constantly in the audience of my child's performances where telephoto is key. While there were a couple of telephoto shots, it was generally ignored.

As a Pixel 7 Pro owner, the only problem I have sometimes is it going too "hdr" and sometimes looking flat. But it being more true-to-life with colors than the iPhone and Samsung makes more sense. Then you can add your filter or adjust the photo.

Hey Max, maybe a suggestion for next time following up on my last comment but first things first: your comparisons are for me the most informative AND funny of it's kind, please keep on doing! So you may consider for next time to group photos, this way everybody can tailor the results to his/her own type of use. I do only a few selfies, macros and nighttime photos e.g but a lot of portrait, landscapes, buildings (outside, inside), citylife and a few videos too. So if I can make partial results I can choose the camera that is strong in the categories I prefer and neglect the ones I don't care so much.

@JAV that's the point lol, this video targets the masses and they just use the default settings, if he uses apple's proRaw then people will also request RAW from samsung which will be messy i would say, perhaps RAW vs RAW video maybe an option. YT is to target the majority of the buyers and fyi i can gurantee 90% of iphone buyers won't even know there's something called ProRAW/ProRes

When you take photos with the samsung don't use the 108 pxl when it's in a bright or dark area bc it's not HDR use the second choice and make sure to turn Auto HDR on , Hight efficiency pictures on, and scène optimiser on

I have a pixel 7 pro and installed the gcam 8.7 APK - highly highly recommended. You have even more control over many aspects of the camera, especially HDR+ and white balance. Google AI does adapt over time, btw . Mine was producing photos that's were way too blue/cold at first. So I had the temp and exposure sliders active, and adjusted the temp to warmer most times. But now it's learned my preference and I don't really need the sliders anymore

What are the manual adjustment options between android and iphone? For example HedgeCam 2 has AEB with ISO bracketing from middle exposure towards faster shutter speed. So you can bracket like that 1/100s @ ISO 3200 to 1/27195s @ ISO 100. Because you also have manual min max limits for shutter speed and iso, then by going higher on EV step you end up with 1/100 1/100 1/100......1/27195 1/27195 1/27195

Pixel. I actually have both the Pixel 7 pro and the s22 ultra and the Pixel 6 pro for a work phone. I took that work phone to the beach last summer and the fact you can do the worst type of shooting conditions and still get a fantastic photo made me want to buy the 7 pro for myself. Even though I'm pro Android I'll gladly admit the Samsung camera is definitely not my preference most time. It has too much trouble focusing and getting detailed. Probably the only time I prefer the Samsung photos is on food because I enjoy the extra saturation. I wonder what the 14 pro and the pixel could do however if you could shoot photos in their full resolution. The pixel has a 50 megapixel camera and the iPhone has a 48 but both only allow you to shoot in 12 megapixel format with Pixel binning

I like the colors on handful of the S22 Ultra. It's more pleasing to my eye. Kind of like the punchy colors. I do own the Pixel 7 Pro though.

Oh damn how all good picture quality from all three. I myself am an iPhone 13 Pro Max user, of course the best photos come in sunlight, but night photography is also very convincing. The iPhone's cameras are really good, but what I like the most is the app, it's really simple to use and hasn't bugged once during my use. But smartphone cameras can do really well and I can't wait to see what the next years will bring to cameras

I also have realised this some time ago, i have the galaxy m51 with a gcam (google camera software) and the iPhone 13 pro max i was taking photos of a weeding last year and i give up using the iphone because it made everyone look orange just like the simpsons and even without google software the galaxy has the colors spot on and a better dynamic range also later in that month i went to a party and it's incredible how people go crazy with the iPhone photos but i was using google software on the m51 and i got better results basicaly every time in the photos, by that day i only use the iPhone to record videos

@Nilothpal Majhi Pixels were never up to par on aspects like zoom or in ultra detailed multi-megapixel pics, until the 7 pro came out. And Samsung is still better in these two aspects. S23 ultra just got a 200mpx massive sensor with insane level of detail and insane zoom too.

I know it a comparison like this would take time to put together and edit, but this video was released a few weeks before the Galaxy S23 comes out. I am biased for samsung, but the Pixel does looks better overall. All great phones with a little different strengths. Never had a Pixel but it does take great photos. This was a really difficult for me to tell which was which, and which style to pick blind. The photographers had a preference for less saturation, but imo the nice saturation is more for social media. Even unsaturated photos will be edited in post to have more colors I think.
