@Old UK I see your point but I'd argue even those years they actually performed fairly poorly and we fortunate with red cards etc. For example the game against Ireland we were a man up by spent most of the game getting battered and could have lost if not for a horror show of an error where Ireland kicked the ball dead

@James Rautha I’d argue 2021 was a massive fluke and most would agree. But 2019 was pretty prime Gatland Wales. I mean they took the eventual champion Boks within 3 points in the semis of the World Cup, and won the six nations and a Grand Slam that year.

Honestly France didn't respect Wales in the second half the last two tries can be evicted by French team. France want to score score and again score like last week but Wales realize a good match in particular during the first twenty minutes it's good to watch Wales at this level, its definitely the best Welsh games on in this tournament.

@François Lelavage agreed .. that was best performance by Wales during this 6 nations.. they had to come out fighting against a very very good French team who are a joy to watch playing attractive rugby.. hopefully the politics destroying Welsh rugby on and off the pitch can be fixed so Welsh players can concentrate on the world cup later this year .. Even tho France relaxed a bit after their fourth try Wales played very well! Probably the best Welsh performance in this tournament and amazing French skills.

Definitely don't think this is Wales' "worst ever side"! Cymru have some amazing players - AWJ is an all-time legend still going strong in the twilight of his career, of course, but also Falatau, Beard, North, Owens, Tipuric, Rees-Zammit, Biggar, and (when fit) Anscombe & Halfpenny have all been world-class. They just weren't able to show it properly in Wayne Pivac's ill-fitting system. I'm definitely ready to give Wales credit for putting on an amazing show, and for improving massively over their humiliation at Scottish hands in the space of just 3 matches! I think a Gatland-led Wales should be a real threat to win their RWC group stage over Australia, and I think the rest of the rugby-watching world will wake up to their potential soon, if they haven't already!

@Jonathan Estey our ranking suggests otherwise. I do think the rankings themselves are a bit weird. Until this year for example, Ireland haven’t won a title since 18, whereas Wales have won 2, France 1 and England 1 since then. And they all got further in the most recent RWC, yet somehow Ireland are 1st. A bit bizarre but whatever.

You obviously don’t remember/weren’t alive in the 80’s and 90’d then……. Worst Welsh side in the last twenty years yes but not ever.

I’d like to agree, but I’ve been here before. SA and AB’s will be up for this and with maybe new stuff. Add the Ozzie’s, southern hemisphere Scotland?!!. An islander team might turn up and Argentina and possibly Georgia might beat someone up, Japan ? Looking like the best ever tournament. As I said we’ve been here before. France or a Ireland can do it, but the Anzacs and saffers have been watching. Tactics always advance, better heads than me have doubts. Ireland in NZ was magnified thoiugh : )

@Catani No, he’s being realistic. Saying “wales back on their feet” when they’ve lost 4 out of 5 games is an insult, if wales were back on their feet, they would be winning every game. Even though italy lost to wales, theyve managed to keep up with France better than the welsh. I’m welsh and I’ve always supported wales but these couple years that have gone past, wales have declined dramatically

Considering the disastrous previous 4 games wales played before France then turning up in Paris against arguably the best rugby team on the planet who recently destroyed eng by a 42 point margin is definitely a step in the right direction for Wales who have been awful.. that's the point he's trying to make and anyone with half a brain will realise Wales have a huge ammount of work to do b4 world cup but that performance against France was Wales at least back on their feet attempting to put things right and stop the rot which they did.. .. if Wales had played as monumentally bad as they did against eng ? Quant à l'Irlande, oui l'arbitrage a été globalement en leur faveur, mais ils n'ont pas volé le Grand Chelem ni leur domination sur le rugby mondial...

In fairness the game was already won when Wales scored three of their tries. France's style of rugby ensures they will always be slightly exposed against good sides but they still usually outscore them. That's what makes them so fun to watch.

That's why their matches are so exciting to see... Open rugby here... No shut the door for spectaculars games...

My friend, they almost lost to Australia and South Africa last year at home. Its a whole different ball game when in the WC. Hopefully they dont choke at home.
