If the press fit is on the inner, you tap on the inner, if on the outer, tap on the outer otherwise the balls leave dimples on the running surface and you start with a stuffed bearing.

That is 100% wrong. First, the guy above me explained it well, and second these are hardened and wont take any damage from light tapping. The worst that could happen is that if you tap too hard the ring could shatter in thousands of pieces - but definetly not with the tapping shown in the vid

It's a cycloidal gear and the grease is likely to be something called "Mollywhite 00 grease" or "FZ Multemp 00" If that helps at all

@roaringcat 62 Come on man, you use a bushing that is the same diameter as the inner race of the bearing, to lightly tap against. Never ever hit the outer race unless you like redoing your work in the not too distant future.

@Brian Langum I have tapped them in with a hammer for over 40 years and never had a problem
