Luka is just different. There is no other midfield player as complete in the history of football. He's not an attacking mid but can create or score if needed. He's not a DMC but he can track back, mark and take the ball away if needed. He's not a regista but he can send pinpoint passes if needed and ALWAYS sends the ball forward. He's not a Box to Box but can run the entire field in the 95th at 36 years old if needed. Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi and Pirlo are better than he is at their specialty but Luka can do it all at a close enough level and run the tempo of a game better than any of them. He's just special.

Second half a little troll ( as Danish media called him after game but not with bad intent ) named Luka Modric ( only 36 years old) came in and the game completely changed. No answers from Danish side for little troll magic. Watch the game it if you can to see why is Modric definetely in top 10 in history. Yes of course. Luka is one of the greatest midfielders in history. He turns 37 this week, and what he's doing at that age is simply amazing !!! Other greats like Zidane, Iniesta, Xavi at that age had given up or played in Qatar, China, etc. Personally, for me, the greatest midfielder anyone has ever played is Zidane. I think Xavi and Iniesta were incredible players, but I put Modric above both. He can dictate the pace like them, but he also has a long range strike and can be dangerous on the counter. I can't imagine Xavi or Iniesta just 1 of them playing for Croatia doing the same madness Luka did.

Luka Modrić stands alone on the G.O.A.T mountain for midfielders and here is why; a) He is by far the most complete midfielder to have ever played the game. Anyone who has ever played football professionally knows that Modrić can play the nb. 10 position without a shadow of a doubt. But he plays a box to box midfielder even though he has all the skills needed to play the 10, shooting, vision, passing, dribbling pace, acceleration. Why? Because he is a team player and wants to help out on defense as well. The most unselfish player in football i have ever seen. He is basically a hybrid of Xavi(precise short and long passing, vision, not loosing the ball), Iniesta( dribbling,shooting,finishing,corner taking) and Gilberto Silva(covering space on defense, tackling without fouling ). b) he has incredible balance and NEVER GIVES A BALL AWAY and always finds not only the right pass but the best pass available. He knows how to tackle and covers space in defense. c) I dont know if people understand this but he is doing all the above mentioned things at 37 YEARS of AGE!!!! At Real Madrid....playing Champions League. AT 37. d) The best midfielders of all time....ALL OF THEM retired at the age of 33-35 and even in their last 2 years they were playing in MLS or somewhere in China or Qatar. While Modrić casually plays Champions League at 37 making fools out of players who are 10-15 years younger then him.... running to close gaps in midfield and sprinting in counterattacks after playing for 60 minutes. This guy just put up a master class against Liverpool in CL 2023 showing people how to run the show in the middle of the park at 37 years of age in a quarter finals of the champions league. Literally schooled the entire Liverpool midfield for 160 minutes.
