I've been watching boxing for 40 years and in adult life been fortunate enough to work alongside some top level athletes in both amateur and pro sport. I've seen how hard they push themselves and the level of ability is on a completely different level to "us normal humans" I can't stress this point enough. So at the very least they deserve respect especially those who put their lives on the line for our entertainment! I don't know AJ but I support him win or lose because I respect him, understand to some degree what he goes through on a daily basis and have a feeling that he is a genuinely kind hearted individual, outside the ring thankfully. It's a shame some sports fans don't remember this in their intense keyboard criticism of these men and women.

Seriously, AJ has never deserved the stick he’s gotten from the fans. He’s always been a positive influence for boxing and a good champ. He’s made some mistakes, aka getting on the mic after the Usyk fight but the man is always honest. Hope he finds a way back to the crown.

I've not been his biggest supporter but he did not let people down. In fact it's his pride and in this case caring too much about what people think that seem to have negatively affected him. Perhaps if he storms through Franklin (not a given), he can regain his old persona in the ring but also a new freedom out of it. There's no shame in losing a boxing match.

@rindz_os Retty That's very true. But I think it's important to consider where he gets such strong delusions from and why he thought he had any chance to begin with. In my opinion he's being used and manipulated as a cash cow by people who just want to make millions out of the Fury fight. There's no friends in that business. I just hope he doesn't end up in the ring with Wilder. That would be a massive mistake. Fury would humiliate him over 6-8 rounds but Wilder will knock his block off inside 3.

That was a really good question AJ asked about the IBO belt, we keep hearing the popular trope about "FOUR BELT ERA" when there are other titles such as the IBO, which people go back and forth with recognising/not recognising, it's strange and the fact that AJ pointed this out shows how weird it is.

People don't understand how difficult boxing is, even without all the popularity AJ had at the pinnacle of his career. We also forget that, bar a few fighters, all the greats had Ls on their record. What I think is, because boxers nowadays generally have fewer fights during their career to preserve their health in comparison to the previous era, 3/4 Ls on your record looks worse when you've had 35 fights 1than it would if you had say 55 fights. I believe it depends on WHO you fight, too, and AJ, bar Wilder, fought everyone, so he deserves big credit for that. I'd still like to see that fight, too 🙌🏾

I could invent the Global Boxing Federation Title (GBFT) and fight my grandad for it but it would mean zero. All these governing bodies destroyed boxing. How it takes Rahim to explain that to a former world champion is beyond me. I respect him as an athlete, he is one of the few who is never out of shape but he's thick as a plank. No disrespect to Chisora, but when Fury fought him for a third time I lost all respect for Fury. All the great things he did before like fighting Klitchko and Wilder in their own back yard, that all went out the window when he had the cheek to offer another great champion a 70/30 purse split. Who the hell does he think he is? Fury a 🤡 for that. The only way to redeem himself is to clean up the heavyweight division, which I guarantee you he won’t do. Come on Joshua get back those belts and prove you are the more worthy champion. We need more fighters like you, who will fight everybody and anybody, unlike that WBC joker.

AJ needs direction. He is a great man who I think has lost his way. He pulled it back together - somewhat - after the Ruiz loss, but this second round of hardship has been more difficult to navigate, and that's understandable. He's a deep, profound man, and in public he's had trouble giving us a through-line to his true self; he has flickered through various images from the humble loser to the defiant ex-champ on the way back. For now I think AJ would do better to keep away from microphones and do less thinking out loud in public. I'm rooting for him against Franklin. I would love to see him get his aggression back so that he could give us his best self against Wilder. Then maybe we could talk redemption, and next steps. For now, it's Jermaine Franklin, an OK test, the right fight for now. Then we'll see.

That's not right. He didn't let anybody down. The fact is that he'd been guided by his manager, and he was believing his own hype. He could have beaten Usyk, but for some reason he didn't use the finishing instincts that he used to have. I don't think AJ has the mental toughness to be world champion. But for everything he's already done, and achieved in boxing and in life, he'll always be a winner. I think he should look at retiring. He's got money, and he's not going to be a legitimate champion. He needs to try to find the next chapter in his life. And the only thing that Rob McCracken did, was train Carl Froch, the guy with the least head movement in boxing, who got by, by being as hard as hell, and impossible to knock out. Hardly Cus D'Amado is he? But isn't it too late, to get a better trainer, now?? I actually think Fury would have been a very good trainer for AJ. I really do. Both in movement, and in character. If AJ and Fury ever fight, AJ will get knocked clean out.

As Ali put it nicely, Champions are not made in the gym but by a deep desire inside them. AJ was a champ made in the gym and wasn't ready to go on his shield and happily quit or went into survival mode. Look at Wilder by contrast... fewer skills, getting smashed all over the place, nearly unconscious, but still willing to get up and fight hoping he could land that right hand and get his belts back.

I give respect to Wilder. Fight 2 of the Fury vs Wilder trilogy. the first fight was a draw then Fury got more serious. And Fury was knocking down wilder, wilder couldent cope with it, wilder's corner thru in the towel and wilder wanted another fight with Fury and the 3rd fight. Wilder didnt want the towel thrown in again and he fought a good fight until Fury knocked him out

Joshua didnt let people down, Joshua did what a champion should do and thats defend against his mandatory and that mandatory just proved to be better. Fury on the other hand as a champion has the audacity to defend against en fighter with 12 losses whom he has already beaten 2 times and cons the public into thinking he actually wants to fight the likes of Joshua and Usyk. Tyson Fury is the one letting everybody down.

He’s always better when he’s a tad nasty. In & out the ring.

To be fair AJ has fought all his mandatories and the plus side for AJ most where over the hill (being honest) but unfortunately the new men who are far hungrier and better have got his measure since he was annihilated by Andy Ruiz Junior, if we was being completely honest AJ would be lucky to be in the top 6 - and as he is fighting someone who IS NOT IN THE TOP 15 OF ALL BOXING AUTHORITIES NEXT - team AJ obviously don’t have much confidence in him - it’s over - that’s life !! Long live Tyson Furry 😁😁

There isn’t. So true. Luke is light years ahead of this clown.

@x158 as a boxer I think you are right, not light years but definitely has an edge. As a man and a champion/ role model to others he is no where near!

Luke actually has a belt, Oluwafemi hasnt. You're right there isn't a comparison, Fury is a world class boxer, AJ is a CrossFit trainer who can't box to save his life
